Well as some of you are aware Mel and I have moved. We were able to find a new apartment on the third floor of a three story house. Some of our friends live on the first floor and the land lady lives on the second floor. The land lady is a sweet, little italian lady. She is always cooking for use which we both love, especially mel cause it means that she doesn't have to cook as often. Our new apartment is great, it is much bigger than our old apartment. It is a two bedroom apartment with tons of storage which we are lovin'.
As you can see from the pictures the move was more than interesting. We learned the hard way that 100 year old houses are not made for new furniture. We had one heck of a time getting our furniture up the stairs to the third floor. Luckily we were able to get all of our furniture into the apartment until it came to the couch. The doors on our new place are smaller than on our old place and when we started looking at the stairs we realized that there was no way we were going to get it up the stairs. Not wanting to give up, we came up with the great idea to back up the Uhaul with the couch on the roof. Then we were going to try and lift it up to the third floor balcony. This proved more difficult than we knew at the time. After a lot of struggling we were finally able to get the couch onto the balcony. When we got the couch up to the third floor we thought that the worst was over. Little did we know that it had only just begun. The couch would not go through the door no matter what we tried. Everyone had to go home, so Mel and I decided to leave it on the balcony and call some professional movers to see what they could do. So we covered it in some tarps and called the movers. Some came by a couple of days later and said that they would try and move it in and if they got it in they would want $250 dollars. Well I told them no thanks, 'cause I was doubtful that it would fit and did not want them to scratch it up trying to get it in incase we had to sell it and get something that would fit. The couch stayed out there for about a week until I took one of my friends advice to try and take it apart. I started messing with the chair that was in the house and decided that it was worth a try. To my surprise the couch was able to come apart extremely easy and I was able to move it in piece by piece, then reassemble it. Needless to say it was one of the most interesting moves that I have ever been a part of. Luckily we have good friends that thought to take pictures, 'cause no one would believe use if we told them what we did. We are all moved in finally and we are loving our new apartment. The commute for both of us is shorter and we are much closer to the beach, which is going to be real nice come summer time. Just wanted to let you all know about our move. Have a nice day.
