The North Bridge. Site of the first battle of the Revolutionary War. Emerson wrote a famous poem about the "Midnight ride of Paul Revere." What our history books never bothered to mention was that Paul was captured by the British before he got to Concord, one of the other riders delivered the message that "the British are coming!" A hundred years later, Emerson was dating a descendant of Paul Revere and wanted to impress her, so he wrote a poem making Paul a hero. And that's what we learned in school. Nobody remembers the names of the other two riders. Anyway.....I digress.
Sleepy Hollow Cemetary has the graves of Louisa May Alcott, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorn, etc, all former residents of Concord.
When My mom, LuAnn, was visiting us in October, we took a short ride to Concord to see the beautiful leaves. While there, we had to stop and see the historical sites of course. Nate was wicked excited to go to Louisa May Alcott's house and sit through the entire tour. For someone who has read the book and seen the movie Little Women many times though, it's so exciting to see where it really took place.

that's interesting about paul revere. it's funny how history can be wrong sometimes. cool scenery! you're lucky to be living in such a historical place!
